On Saturday 30th October, I plan to ring the Norham Church bell 26 times, once a minute for 26 minutes, starting at 6pm, as part of an initiative marking the start of the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow. On the eve of the conference, as leaders prepare to discuss their response to climate heating, a number of churches and cathedrals across the country will 'ring out a warning'.
A press release about ‘Ring out for Climate’ can be found on the Church of England website here: https://www.churchofengland.org/media-and-news/press-releases/church-bells-across-nation-set-ring-warning-climate-catastrophe-ahead.
The chair of the Association of English Cathedrals is supporting the initiative. You can read more here: https://www.englishcathedrals.co.uk/latest-news/ring-out-for-climate-change-cop26/?fbclid=IwAR2Wc85mTFOKjcva4QY5GZ-gEVSAb1FFoou18e2t06DxYhLwVvCPh5e-ezU.
Agreed, COP26 needs our support. Hopefully the recent investigations being undertaken by Greencat Renewables on behalf of Norham Development Trust will indicate and develop opportunities for the community to participate and contribute to the necessary decarbonisation.
Well done Rob a great initiative
