An extraordinary exhibition of exquisite embroideries
St Cuthbert's Church Norham TD15 2LF
Sunday 26th March until Easter Sunday - 9th April.
Open from 9am - 5pm everyday throughout that time
Entry is free
The exhibition features 14 panels, hand embroidered by the artist and poet Dr Romola Parish. The works form a journey about faith, with captions to stimulate thought and reflection, rather than explaining the content of the image, and the accompanying texts allow the observer to interpret each and every embroidery in their own way.
You are warmly invited to come along to enjoy, and reflect on these amazing embroideries - taking as much time as you wish to view the tapestries in this beautiful setting of Norham's Norman church.
These works have also been exhibited at several churches and colleges across the UK, including Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. Romola Parish trained in hand embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework in Hampton Court, specialising in Elizabethan Goldwork and Jacobean Crewelwork.
This a thought-provoking exhibition of small frames of beautiful, intricate embroidery and inspiring comments. I was really moved.
I heartily recommend a visit!
